Stainless steel is best
I find using distilled water works better to keep slime away, using tap at first and my filter turned color quickly. Otherwise cat seems to like it.

This water fountain has no viewing window and requires removing the top to check water level.
This pet drinking fountain cautions against allowing the water level to get too low because it might burn out the motor. But, unlike many of the other pet drinking fountains, it has no window for viewing the water level, which requires the fountain to be unplugged and the top of the fountain to be removed to view the marking (very faint) on the inside of the water “tank” to check the water level and water to be added before adding water if necessary. Prior fountains I have owned had a window which allowed the water level to be easily viewed (and water to be added if necessary) without partially disassembling the fountain. I did not notice the lack of viewing window in the ad. Perhaps you should note this in the ad.

Very Nice Pet Water Drinking Fountain
I love this pet water fountain. It holds just over a gallon water. It came with 3 filters where the water returns back to the bowl. It has a cleanable filter around the pump. The pump uses low voltage A/C adapter like a cell phone. The lid keeps water from evaporating so fast in the summertime. I only have to refill there bowl every 2 or 3 days versus every day. When the bowl gets low on water, I notice that the fountain will make an indoor water feature sound like rain drops or water dripping from bowl to bowl which was nice reminding me to add water. The dog really like the higher level of water since they don’t have to dip there face further into the water to get a drink.

Elegant, innovative, quiet, and easy to clean. Possibly “purrfect.”
No apologies for the “purrfect” pun. We have a cat fountain already, and it’s going straight to the thrift store, because THIS one is much, MUCH better.1) Stainless steel! No more microplastics for Milo!2) The filtering system helps prevent gunk from getting into the main basin, and that basin is BIG. Four liters! That’s more than a gallon.3) The upper dish is shallow, so cat hair and cat food can be lifted out without needing to dismantle anything.4) When it DOES need a thorough cleaning it comes apart very easily. The upper basin lifts free, bringing the pump and the filter with it. These pieces can be cleaned separately, and once you’ve separated them from the electronics the reservoir and upper basin can actually be run through the dishwasher (not the pump, though).5) It’s VERY quiet.Per the photos, the power supply is an AC→USB-A adapter with a 5 volt DC, 1amp, 5 watt output. I don’t know how tolerant the pump is of other USB power supplies, so it’s probably good to keep these specs on-hand in case you decide to try powering this from a USB power bank or hub.
