Great Video, Wonderful Support Staff, Fun Look into the Secret Lives of My Pets!
PetCube ReviewI purchased my PetCube Bites camera because I wanted a pet camera for a while, I needed something in my pets’ lives that could get them off the couch while I’m not home (even for a min), and I like things that work with Alexa! After a few weeks with it, PetCube Bites does not disappoint! I love seeing what my pets are doing (or not doing… lazy babies) when I am not home.Camera – The camera is great! The videos were so clear, even at night with the night vision!Treats – The treat flinging is fun for my pets and has always worked! Maybe a treat won’t make it past the ledge, but nothing has been stuck in the machine! WOOT!2-way Audio – I love being able to watch my pets while I’m not home and talk to them through the 2-way audio! My dog used to ignore me. Now she leaves the room when I talk. hahahahaSet-up – The set-up took a little finagling. I just reset the box and then it worked fine. If you have any issues, just reset it. Don’t spend an hour trying to argue with it, like I did.Size – It’s large. The dimensions are there for me to see, so I knew what I was buying. Now that I have it, I don’t even notice it, but it was a little shocking at first. The treats have to be stored somewhere, so it obviously makes sense.Customer Support – At first I couldn’t get Alexa and the Petcube to communicate, so I reached out to Support and they were fantastic! They gave me a few simple steps to try and were superb to deal with!I treat my pets like the children I don’t have yet, and I am glad that I have this pet cam in my life.

A-MAZING picture… Very high quality!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
I absolutely love LOVE LOVE Petcube bites. I just moved to a new place far from my family. And it’s just me and my German Shepard, love of my life. I now have a long commute to work and I have to leave my pup for a longer period of time than what he’s used to. I moved into a condo.and so for awhile when I was home my dog would be barking up a storm at any sound the neighbors in the other units would make. So I thought that if he barks so much now while I’m at home how much more would be barking when I’m not home. And the least thing I want to do is to get the neighbors mad and end up complaining about me. So I knew I just had to get a camera to look in on him from time to time since my family is no longer around to check in on him for me. This camera has come as a true blessing. I check in on him.. And surprisingly he does NOT bark much at all. He’s quiet and mostly looks bored. I feel bad. But when I speak and call his name he comes right to the camera. If I look in on him and he happens to be barking I’m able to calm him down just by speaking into it and throwing him treats. I LOVE this. The only downside is that when I throw the treats it spits out numerous at a time and the crumbs go with it. So it makes a bit of a mess… And everytime I come home I find ALL the treats thrown about, untouched. My dog who LOVES treats does not like these treats for some reason. He’ll sniff it… Pick it up with his mouth and than drop it. Go figure… I thought he’d enjoy them. I hope there are different treats I can put in. He loves the softer treats with a little more of a meaty flavor. He doesn’t care for the hard treats… Milk bones and such. Anyway… All in all this camera works great! The quality is just amazing! And I love how it switches to night vision when it gets dark. I haven’t had any problems with it connecting to the Wi-Fi. This is perfect… When I’m home I unplug it and turn the camera towards the wall because I’m a bit paranoid and terrified someone will hack into the camera and spy on me… Lol. Overall… I love this and am looking forward too purchasing Petcube Play so i can play with my dog instead of him being bored. That I would like to set up in another room so i can see him at all times even when he’s in another room. I would recommend this to ANYONE!!!

Great concept, not working, poor customer support. Going back.
Update: due to throwing too many treats, contacted customer support as indicated in the leaflet it comes with. They said to just use the orange inserts. Told them there were no orange inserts. They asked for all kind of personal information and said they would ship inserts. Gave them info. They told me since I did not buy from a licensed seller, they don’t honor their warranty. In the meantime, I’ve not used even the camera much, because it more often than not has a very dark image and does not automatically turn on the night vision reliably. Wyze still works with day vision in those light settings. Going back.Update: got wifi to work in kitchen by moving router (did not work with with repeater). However, when petcube bites connects, my work laptop gets kicked off fairly frequently (even if I’m sitting right next to router). Picture quality especially around edges is worse than regular petcube, and much worse than wyze (even without pan – pictures with time stamp are wyze, without are petcube bites). Dog got another load of kibble in the face – just this time in my absence – from an automatic treat cycle I must have inadvertently programmed. Now he won’t go back into kitchen at all, and I had to move his water and take him out through the front door. Suboptimal as the kitchen was his safe space when I have to leave him alone. Oh, and I have to exit and restart the app to switch between the two petcube cameras. I’ll continue to work with the dog and tech support on the WiFi issues, but if I can’t get both resolved pronto, it goes back.____________________Of all my WiFi toys, this was the most annoying to get to connect. In the end, it connected sitting basically on top of the router and giving it the name of the network as it was still to daft to discover it.Then it updated. And updated. And updated. Finally it was all happy, but no video. Lather, rinse, repeat. Turn off phone. Turn on phone. Finally connects. Carried to the spot in the kitchen where the wyze sits that it’s meant to replace. No connection. Fine. So back to my office.Introduced to dog. That part went well. Initially. To be able to see the dog if he’s on the floor, it can’t be more than tabletop height, right at the edge (an even then there’s a big blind spot on the floor near the desk). He’s big enough to put his paws on my desk, though he’s not supposed to. I plan to mount it on a wall and it looks sturdy and my dog not a rowdy, so that might not be a problem. I thought. I loaded it with his kibble (10mm diameter) and told it to toss a treat at minimum distance. About 10 kibble fall audibly onto a plate at the bottom of the opening. That’s a half of his in absentia teat allowance (the rest are for actual training when I’m home). Then nothing happens for several seconds, but the kibble is visible. Dog goes to eat the kibble, and before I can grab him, he gets a load of kibble in the kisser. Close up. Hard. Except for one, which somehow stayed on the plate. Check on dog – both eyes are fine. While the dog is still cowering behind the couch, I go looking for the little orange inserts to regulate treat size. In spite of having seen them on a ‘bites’ influencer review and having been told the mechanics between the two are the same and the main difference is Alexa, it seems to be a bites 2 only feature. Bummer.Removed kibble. Tried his bigger treats which are round disks just under 1 inch. Got stuck. No treat.Removed treats (shaking upside down to get stuck one out). Loaded included treats. They look lonely at the bottom of the huge reservoir. Still shoots a few at a time. One left on the plate. Removed treats (dog didn’t care for them), reloaded kibble.Dog still hiding behind furniture. Later in the day, he would come back to the office, on hearing the evil machine on my desk hid, but came out to eat kibble. By feeding all treats and most of dinner, got him to jump up and take cover when it rumbles and then dart out to hunt the kibble. Fine. Maybe we’ve inadvertently learned not to put the paws on the desk, but I’m not into adverse effects training.Tried to program automatic treat release, but the app is a nightmare. You open the time setting, and then there’s no ‘ok’. You click and get some random-ish time. I can’t imagine programming 8 of them. Also: who needs a 1.5 lbs reservoir? It’s not a feeder! The treats would spoil or the dog get fat. I want to toss ONE or maybe two small treats maybe every 15 minutes with a bit of randomness, not a handful every 2 hours. I want fast good camera connection. I miss the ability to record on sd card I have with the wyze. I miss the ability to look around (especially DOWN, because that’s where pets are) that I have with the wyze. I need a: starting now, throw a treat about every 20 minutes until I return button.Tomorrow I’ll borrow a WiFi extender and will see if I can get it to work in the kitchen (which by the way is 30 feet and one drywall from the router and has 5 bars on all my portable devices). If so, I might see what happens if the dog is alone with it in the afternoon.

This Petcube Bites is great. Setup went very well and my cat made it a friend. So fun when I am travelling to be able to hear my cat and for my cat to be able to hear me. As soon he hears the sound of the Petcube Bites preparing the treats, he moves in front and waits for them.

Pros: great video & audio quality, great customer serviceCons: the app needs some work, & the treat dispenser is a bit sketchy. The video quality is awesome! Don’t think that it’ll come out looking like a security surveillance video, because it’s so much better. I love the 2 way audio, too. My pet knows I’m checking in on him.The PetCube is sturdy and modern looking. I wish I would’ve purchased the rose gold though. It is quite big, but that’s because of the treat dispenser. The first time I tested the treats, it scared my cat because there’s a slight delay when they drop down and then shoot out. It also shot out 5 at a time (they give an insert to limit the smaller treats though!)The app needs improvement — it lags / freezes but it’s not constant and shouldn’t deter you from buying this.
