I have 2 cats (3 & 4 years old, both very playful) and bought this with the younger in mind. He is very active and can get restless, and loves “fishing pole” type and interactive toys. This was a huge hit with him! (My other cat was also initially very interested, but I think has since been a bit intimidated by the wild ways his brother plays with it.)We’ve had it for a bit under 3 weeks, and the 3yo cat (pictured) plays with it multiple times a day. Sometimes that’s just laying under it and batting at it… all the way up to carrying the mouse in his mouth, up to 15+ feet away, and letting it wildly spring back. Be sure to hang it in a doorway without any especially fragile items nearby, because of that! (Several times I’ve had to retrieve it after it bounced back so wildly as to get hung up on the door hinges or a nearby object.)I did find the same issue others have noticed– most doorways are far too wide for the top part to fully grip around, but I hung it somewhat sideways on part of the door frame and it has had no issues staying in place, even with my cat dragging the mouse toy all over our home and then letting it bounce back with force.This will likely become a go-to gift for anyone I know with a playful young cat.ETA: if your cat plays with it as wildly as mine does (carrying it off to let it spring back), you’ll find that soon the mouse starts to be “skinned.” I saw that was happening and ordered a 2-pack to have on backup. Today (after just under 2 months of use) I saw that the elastic cord had broken, near the mouse, so put up a replacement. I’ll likely try to add a few stitches to the new ones to help keep the fabric covering from coming off the rattle-y plastic mouse base form as quickly (as if that part had been intact, I could have just re-tied the elastic cord pieces together). Even if it continues to need regular replacement, though, this remains a 5/5 star cat toy for the price and how much regular play and enrichment he gets out of it!

Best Cat Toy EVER
This is by far, the best cat toy ever! My cat ignores all other toys for this rat. He played with the first one so much, he pulled it off the string. He drags it all over the house and eventually loses it under a piece of furniture. Then he cries for it. We are constantly having to find this rat. It is so beat up, chewed up and mutilated it does look like a dead rat.Now we can’t find it, so he was without for almost a month. Just bought my second one and he is in heaven again. I remove the wire and hang it from the ceiling rather than a doorway. When he gets tired of playing with it, he sleeps right beside it, wakes up and starts playing again, He really wants it off the string, and eventually, he will get it off and lose it just like the first one. Then I will have to buy a third one…. I glad they are cheap. I do rotate toys now, so he only gets the rat 2X a week. I call it a rat, because, well, it does look like a baby rat.

my cats’ favorite toy, but string breaks easily
My cats and I love this! I really appreciate how much it keeps them entertained independently—it is their favorite toy. It’s super easy to hang up and doesn’t really get in the way of the door if placed to the side. The string did break within a couple of weeks—it’s a decent quality but they do play with it a lot. It’s not a big deal though and easy to tie other toys to it. I still think it’s worth it and will probably buy another one soon!

Young kitties love this
My 1-2 year old cats love this thing.Although, since this toy has a stretchy string I only let them play with it when I am home and have to avoid any breakable items in the area including stuff hanging on walls. It was certainly a joy for my cats and for me to watch them attempt to run with it. Hilarious honestly. The real looking mouse was more loved than any other hanging toys I have for them. 100% great purchase. The rubber tips did wear off or popped off, so that might be something to keep a look out for to avoid damage to walls or door fames.

Great toy – but fragile
The cats absolutely LOVE it, but the cord broke after a week. Tied it back together, and they broke it again. If your kitty’s excitable and hyperactive, maybe get them something else. This thing can’t handle a real kitty’s energy.

BEST CAT TOY, EVER!
BEST CAT TOY EVER! I adopted a cat from the Humane Society who isn’t extremely active but when she wants to play she really wants to play and gets the “zoomies”. We absolutely love having this toy because it fits over any door frame doesn’t cause any damage and she can play with it on her own or with us, she goes nuts for hearing it smack against the door jamb which also doesn’t cause any damage and it’s on a bungee cord that you can hold back 10 ft and let go so it projectiles back and forth. She absolutely loves her mouse to the point that we have to put it up at night because she’ll keep me up all night playing with it. She’s also quite destructive with toys and yet this toy house stood up to the test of time and abuse she’s thrown its way. She will grab it and lay on the floor with it chewing on it and it is yet to come apart unlike all the other toys we’ve gotten or made for her. I absolutely highly recommend this incredibly durable, entertaining (with or without having a person involved), fun (& fun to watch her play with it) interactive cat toy. Best money I’ve spent on ANY cat toys so far & worth much more than the price I paid!

Just hang in the middle of the doorway, and now you have the best kitty sitter that ever was.Just make sure there’s nothing in the way of a smooth arc.I recommend this for kitties as a larger or older cat could bring it down in no time.
