Designed with a weighted base, the cognitive dog toys release kibble when shaken from side to side, adding fun to your dog’s eating experience. These dog chew toys effectively slow down eating speed, helps manage portion sizes, transforms mealtime into a rewarding puzzle activity

We recommend steering clear of dry kibble when using the puppy toys’ lick function, as melting ice may cause the kibble to become soggy

    solid,good,makes a mess though
Our picky dog liked it, but here’s he pros and cons: PROS: dog had fun playing with it,especially since he had a reward come out of it for learning to do it correctly. Gets the old Doggy brain in gear which is good. It has ice cube trays to make perfectly sized cold treats to insert into toy for the summertime (ingenius!!). Easy to understand directions. nice sturdy rubbery ball and thick plastic lid, will help it to last a long time hopefully. Like the box states, may not be good for ‘aggressive chewers’. You wouldn’t want an aggressive chewer tearing off a chunk and swallowing it. use small treats or break apart larger ones so it will fit into container and then it should come out easily. CONS: Not too many, just 2 to be aware of: 1) make sure that after the dog is done playing with it and hopefully has eaten all the treats, that there are none left on the floor. The tiny bits (in order to come out of the ball as the dog plays) can litter the floor. So unless the dog eats them all up, there could be bits around that could attract bugs or mice (“possibly”). Probably not, but just something to be aware of. having them play with it out side would be less messy maybe. 2) The top clear plastic lid, must be taken off to be able to put the treats in, however, since it’s a rubbery ball, the plastic is difficult to turn and twist off because of the friction. I dabbed a bit of olive oil around the inside rim after I removed the plastic dome, and it made it MUCH easier to remove and put back on. If you have arthritis, then you may need someone to do that for you. One thing is for sure, once you have that lid twisted back on, that is NOT coming off! Other than these, it’ a good solid dog toy and I think a medium to large size dog will enjoy it. don’t leave it outside though, the treats odor could attract rodents and maybe other animals, with their highly evolved sense of smell. You would not want your dog to be using it if a rodent or raccoon slobbered all over it. Would not be safe for the dog I think. Just use common sense. Otherwise, it’s a great toy on it’s own. Like I said our picky dog liked it and enjoyed it.

Brain Busting Toy – Keeps My Smart Border Collie Busy!
As a dog mom to a proper brain box, a Border Collie, mind you, I’m always on the hunt for toys that truly make him think. Most things he figures out in a minute flat. Well, this 3 in 1 puzzle toy actually does the job! It’s the real deal for sparkin’ his curiosity and keeping his focused on a task.I primarily use it in the treat dispenser with dry food, and it’s fantastic. The treats only come out when he bumps and wobbles it just right, thanks to that clever weighted base. It’s not a free handout, which is exactly what a smart dog needs. What’s really handy for slowing down his chow time is the adjustable switch. I can make the opening smaller to seriously dial up the difficulty, which stretches out mealtime and helps with portion control. The extra info about the frozen treat mode is a game changer, too. I haven’t tried it yet, but the idea of using the included DIY form to freeze yogurt or broth in there sounds awesome for a hot day or just for prolonged licking activity, which is great for anxiety relief. I’ll definitely heed the warning, though, and stick to the liquid treats for that mode, as the instructions say dry kibble might get soggy when it melts but my plan is to puree and freeze vegetables and use the mold provided.Durability wise, it’s a tank. My boy can be a pretty strong chewer, and the materials seem secure and tough enough to handle it. The textured silicone base is also a nice touch. It keeps the toy steady on the floor while he plays. For a toy that does three different things and is built this well, the price is more than fair.

    Durable and Engaging
I think this puzzle will work well for dogs with lots of different interests. For my dog, it works great as an interactive slow feeder/treat dispenser. You just put the kibble in through the open whole in the top, then adjust the size of the opening on the bottom to make it easier or harder for your dog to get the treats out. The base is heavy, so it facilitates my dog using the toy appropriately on the floor instead of just throwing it around. It’s a good size for my Aussie – large enough that he can’t just pick it up and crush it. The rubber is heavy and durable, but soft enough to be comfortable for chewers. If your dog likes to chew, you can definitely spread something appetizing (like peanut butter) in the crevices of the base to make chewing even more appetizing. If you want to use it for frozen treats, you unscrew the plastic dome at the top and insert your molded frozen treat, then replace the dome (freezing mold is included). Frozen treats are not my preference – I find melting frozen treats to be kinda gross and messy. But we love using it as a dinner-time puzzle or treat dispenser for enrichment. It’s holding up great and seems really well made. I’m sure we’ll be able to use it for years.Update: It’s really not that messy with frozen treats. That’s ultimately going to depend on your dog’s chewing style. With the bottom kibble shoot closed and the frozen treat in top, I’ve realized that most of the mess stays inside the toy which can easily be washed in the sink!
